Who do I need to add to my Trust account, and how do they verify?
Trust accounts collect information on three party roles:
- Trustee: manages the trust and its assets
- Grantor: established and funded the trust
- Beneficiary: benefits from the trust
Adding parties
The person opening the account should be listed as a Trustee. If you aren't a trustee, you can still submit your application; we'll review it and follow up if we need more information.
All of your trust's parties must be added, including every trustee, grantor, and beneficiary. There's no ownership threshold for trusts.
One individual can hold more than one role (for example, Trustee and Grantor). They only need to be added once, and their combined roles are reflected in your application.
Individuals under 18 cannot be added as a Trustee, Grantor, or Beneficiary. Another trust or business entity cannot be added as a Trustee, Grantor, or Beneficiary.
Verification
Each unique trust party is sent an email to complete their own identity verification.
Trustees, and the grantor of a revocable trust, complete full identity verification and may be asked for some additional details, including employment information. Other parties complete identity verification only.
Your application remains pending until all required parties complete verification.
