What information and documents do I need for my Trust account?
Entity information
When opening a trust account, you'll be asked for:
- Trust legal name
- Trust type: Revocable or Irrevocable
- Trust agreement date
- State of formation (US states only)
- A description of the trust's purpose
Tax ID
The tax ID you provide depends on what your trust has:
- Irrevocable trusts use the trust's EIN.
- Revocable trusts use the trust's EIN if it has one, or the grantor's Social Security Number if it doesn't.
Supporting documents
Trust accounts use four document categories. Depending on how your trust is set up, you may not need all four.
- EIN Proof — Required if your trust has an EIN. Not required if you're using the grantor's Social Security Number as your trust's tax ID.
- Ownership Structure — Upload whatever trust documentation you have available. Accepted documents include a Trust Deed or Trust Agreement, Certificate of Trust, or any Amendments or Restatements. No single document is required under this category.
- Control and Authority Structure — Accepted documents include authorized signatory information, an ownership structure chart, or a trustee resolution authorizing account opening.
- Source of Funds and Wealth — Accepted documents include a trust bank statement, a letter from the trustee confirming the funding source, or a statement of assets held in the trust.
If a document doesn't pass verification, you'll be notified and can upload a new one.
