What is an accredited investor?
An accredited investor, as defined by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Rule 501 of Regulation D, includes individuals permitted to invest in certain private securities offerings not registered with the SEC. This status is based on income, net worth or professional licensing.
